Generally speaking most gowns and dresses ordered by bridal stores are smaller in size then garments purchased in large department stores. Wedding gowns and evening wear are cut according to a standard of measurement called "true sizing." Often we find a bride's measurements will be a combination of two sizes. For example her bust measurement may place her in a size 6, and her waist and hip measurements may place her in a size 4. We will always recommend the size that will fit the fullest part of her body, which in this case is a size 6. Four months later when her gown arrives we will offer alteration services to custom fit her waist and hips. For great alterations we recommend a measuring session and at least 2 fittings. A final steam pressing will occur prior to our bride receiving her gown.
